Product description
Vintage analog photographic paper - Record Rapid, baryta. Manufactured by Agfa
Expiration date is not clear for me. Unfortunately Agfa does not provide any sign of date on the box, weird. If I will find out I will provide more info but for now I would say - it is... expired and guessing based on labels it looks like 40-30 years... if not more.
Papers were collected by me in winter 2021 and since then stored in cool and dry place (5-10°C . 55-65% humidity).
Boxes are sealed, this way surprise is yours! I'm not able to explain printing results on this particular box and explain exact problems like smoke, cracked gelatin or other damage caused by years since expiration date. But! I'm
- not collecting boxes that smells like moldy cellar, looks flooded or having package damaged - if I found it, trash it
- actively and successfully using papers from the same origin, same supply and same previous owner, thus I'm almost sure, sealed boxes behave similar to the one I've used. You can find printing examples on related products listings.
- guide you for tips and tricks on exposing and developing vintage analog photographic papers, as some problems with vintage photographic papers could be solved by chemistry or could be additional lucre if used correctly.
- looking forward to get your feedback as I'm vintage photography passionate and I love to bring back those old papers back to life. Do not hesitate to contact me for advice or to share the results.
Please note, based on my experience, due to long time since vintage photographic papers expiration time, grade does not make much (read: any) difference between Hard, Normal and Special. It shows a little bit difference from Soft to Extra Hard. Please consider it while choosing grade.
